The remembrance poppy was inspired by the World War I poem “In Flanders Fields”. Its opening lines refer to the many poppies that were the first flowers to grow in the churned-up earth of soldiers’ graves. The red poppy, a native plant along much of the Western Front during the First World War, has become a powerful symbol of remembrance.

I have had this project in mind for a while and with the help of my handy husband we finally have a great 8 x 22 inch mdf  “canvas” as a wonderful substrate for the various mediums.  In this full day workshop you will learn how to use the fabulous Ten Seconds Studio Kabuka Texture Mold # 13 (Boy Mold) on lead free pewter sheet for the bullet shell shaped vase, as well as the barbed wire stems of the poppies. The poppies will be shaped out of polymer clay and we will use the vibrant Pebeo Vitrail paint to add color. We will complete our canvas with text papers, gesso and a water based Betun de Judea paint medium. All supplies are included as well as tool use in class.
